7 WAYS TO DECORATE YOUR HOME ON A BUDGET.

Budget home decor idea.

Having a beautiful home doesn't have to be expensive. Using a little bit of creativity and shopping around can go a long in helping you achieve your perfect style in your home on a budget. Today, I'm sharing some of the tips I've used to make my house a home for my family.

DEFINE YOUR DECOR STYLE:

This is the most important step to me because knowing your decor style will make picking pieces for your home easier. So if you haven't done so already, get to it. Some of the popular decor styles are Modern, Contemporary, Traditional, Minimalist, Rustic, French country, and Glam just to name a few. I obviously have glam decor style,  that is why I lean toward mirror pieces, silver/gold metals and bold accent colours. Once you know your decor style you can then get to work on putting a look together that suits your defined style.

TAKE IT SLOW:

Yes, going out and buying everything at once will cost you an arm and a leg. You can do that if you have the funds available, but if you don't...take it slow.  You can tackle one space at a time until you get your entire house decorated to your taste.  Keep your eye out for sales, clearance and pieces that suits your budget. Over time you will accumulate enough pieces to decorate your space.

DIY:

This will save you so much money and your home will look so amazing without having to spend so much. I'm big on this and YouTube gives so many DIY ideas. So get your creative juices flowing and start making some pieces for your home.

SHOP YOUR OWN HOME:

I'm big on this too! Whenever I want to refresh any space in my home, I shop my stash to find items for the look, I want to achieve. I then move the pieces from one room to the other to give it a different vibe all together.

CHANGE ACCENT PIECES:

Changing accents pieces such as throws, pillows and accessories is such an affordable way to refresh your home decor. Changing out light fixtures, cupboard knobs are also a great idea.

DECLUTTER:

This will make your space look so clean and functional and it doesn't really cost much. Get rid of anything that you have not used in awhile. It does not make sense holding on to it,  the rule of thumb is everytime you bring a new item to your space, you should take one item out. This helps manage the clutter in your home.

SHOP ON FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE AND KIJIJI:

Guys you can literally find so many gems on these two platforms without the hefty price tag. Look for items that you are interested in and make it your own by DIYing it to fit your style.

  2. I’m an absolute fan of home decor and I go with a blend of styles.. a blend of modern, contemporary and rustic (some farm style here and there) with a minimalist approach. I’m weird like that 😂. But trust me I love how it comes together. Yes to the DIY’s.
Girl, FB market place is totally worth the trip! You’re so kind to share all these tips. I’m enjoying them. Well done.
