The practical organization techniques offered in this
post is what I use to organize every and
any space in my home. The tips work no matter how big
or small the job is, so follow along and start organizing your own spaces
today! If You're ready, LETS GET Started!
TAKE BABY
STEPS:
Home organization could be overwhelming even to
experienced organizers. When you start organizing it's important to take it
easy so you don't get overwhelmed. The idea is to get you committed to
finishing the task at hand so, commit to doing little everyday to keep the
momentum going so you don't lose interest. Do it on your own terms as long as
you keep the momentum going.
TAKE
EVERYTHING OUT OF THE SPACE:
Take everything out of the space so you can start with a
clean slate. This makes it easier to see what you have on hand and also assess
your storage needs making it easier to come up with practical solutions that
will work for your unique space.
PURGE, PURGE
AND PURGE!
Purging your belongings is the most important step in the
organization process. It's important to get rid of all the things you no longer
use, or broken so you can make room for the things that you use on a regular
basis. You can start by making three piles to make the process easier.
Pile 1: Keep
Pile 2: Donate
Pile 3: Discard Once the purging is done, throw away old
and broken stuff and donate to your local charity anything that is still in
good condition but you have no use for.
CATEGORIZE
BY PUTTING LIKE ITEMS TOGETHER:
Putting like items together makes it easy to find them
quickly and efficiently making the process less tedious. It also helps with
figuring out the organization system that works for your space, and adds
uniformity which is great for making your space pretty and cohesive.
REPURPOSE
BINS, TRAYS AND BASKETS:
Home organization doesn't have to be costly and it does
not have to be Pinterest worthy. It's nice if you can afford it, but do not let
that prevent you from organizing if you're on budget. Your main goal is to get
your space organized and working for your unique life style. You don't need to
go out there and buy all new organizations solutions.
Start by looking around your home to see what bins,
baskets and tools you can repurpose. More often than not, we buy bins with the
intention of organizing and we never get to it. So use those up first before
purchasing more. I have used old mugs, glassware to store pens and I've also
used empty spaghetti sauce bottles to store beans and other things. They get
the job done beautifully, so repurpose items like that but if you really have
to go out and buy more bins, the dollar stores has a great selection of organization
bins that are so affordable. The idea is to tame your cluttered space, you
don't have to go broke in the process.
LABEL
EVERYTHING:
Labelling is another important step. After you've gone
through everything, purged and reorganized, you want to be able to easily get
to your bins and baskets. Labelling is very important to maintaining your
organization system, so don't skip it. It makes it easier to find and see
everything when you need them. There are number of ways to label your
organization systems, you can find tons of labelling stickers in the dollar
store, and on Amazon to use. Labelling machines also do a great job of
electronically making labels to put on your bins and baskets. There are quite a
few options, but do what best suits your needs and budget.
ORGANIZE AND
PUT EVERYTHING BACK:
After you have purged, reorganized and labelled
everything, it's time to refill your space by putting everything back on the
shelf, drawer, cabinet, pantry, or closet neatly and beautifully.
RETURN
THINGS AFTEREACH USE:
Training yourself and family members to put things back
after each use is very important for maintaining your organization solutions.
If you neglect this step, the chances of you ending up where you started is
very high. You don't want to do all the work involved in organizing your space
only to mess it up again few months later.
Focus on putting things back after
each use, and your system will stays organized longer which is the ultimate
goal; get organized, stay organized and thrive with impeccable style
TWEAK &
REORGANIZE YOUR SYSTEM:
Now that you've worked so hard to organize your home,
it's time to use it and make sure it works for your unique space. If for any
reason your organization system is not working the way you thought It would,
don't be afraid to change and switch things around as needed.
The beauty of
home organization is the fact that it's not a onetime thing, you have the
ability to change things around any time you want. For example over the years I
had separate Cabinets for all things baby, but I no longer have the need for
baby system, so I reorganized and use the cabinets for thing that my kids can
use for arts and crafts and got rid of baby systems I no longer have the need
for.
